Toad in the Hole
Serves 4. You need:
Check you have plenty of milk (250 ml) and some lard/drippings in the freezer. Make the batter ahead of time and put it in the fridge to rest. Then:
- Put ~4 tbsp lard in the baking tray, into the oven at 200C fan.
- Fry up the sausage.
- Remove any lard rind from the tray, leaving just the fat.
- Place in the sausage, then pour over the batter. (The batter should come 3/4 the way up the sausage.)
- Tray back in oven for 30 mins.
- 2 carrots
- Some garden peas
- Slice carrots
- Boil for 5 mins
- Add the frozen peas
- Boil another 5 mins
